Hello, everyone. My name is Inuyoko T’Alveni. I am a Ministress of this Shrine, and a member of its clergy since deoch 53. Last double-moon, we spoke about music. Its beautiful chaos from orderly pieces, and the limitless potential it has to inspire us. Today, I want to talk more about cooperation.

The gods often seem to put themselves out in the name of shared effort. Of course, I don’t just mean what we are doing now – coming together in worship. Think about Luathas and the Academie Arcanus. A group of people with a shared goal of uncovering knowledge and using it to better humanity (at least ostensibly), with the full support of Luathas who tried to guide them even through the course of the first affronts, but by the third, had been forsaken. Their downfall followed. When Falucus and Alcorana tried to call the rest of the Academie to their duty, to fight together against the dubhaimid, none followed. Their heroic actions may be enshrined in our history books, but the collective failure was the final breath of that institution, and to Luathas’ faith in humanity for several aeons.

My point is that our capacity to work together is an integral part of our role both as the foundation for our societies and institutions, but also in the maintenance of our world itself. When Danaan came to Temuair, she brought with her the original Tuatha de Danaan, who for a time worked alongside us, showing us how to better harness the elements and make life easier for everyone. This cooperation is what led us to the great Age of Hy-Brasyl. But again, it would be greed and the break-down of that mutuality that led to the drowning.

We may recall the way those who survived that calamity barely learned from the mistakes of the past. From the danaan 1400’s to the 2200’s several societies – Finach, Niara, Gear Inbhir, and more were founded. The element of darkness was discovered and with it all the atrocities of Chadul and the dubhaimid, including what I mentioned before with the Academie and Luathas. By this time Temuair is balkanized, and we see the rise of Loures with Tenes and the League of Darkness founded. Another perfect example of looking up to powerful beings to restore order around us rather than looking around to each other and building ourselves up.

This is not intended to be a history lesson – rather, I bring all this up because it relates to an important lesson that I like to believe we Aislings can strive to embody. Even Deoch Himself was not immune to the cold call of Chadul which threatened our world for the rest of that era. But in spite of our repeated failures, Danaan did not stop believing in us. That belief brought Him around to her vision. And yes, it is true that her own sacrifice was a part of that vision, but so are we. By giving us the spark, we have been given another chance at learning that lesson that I have been hammering away at. We are all connected through the Spark, but also through a much deeper web which runs through the heart of all creation. And now, with Deoch and Danaan’s gift we are the inheritors of a new Age. One that itself has had its schisms and conflicts over 215 years, but which still stands a chance to mark the end of the Dark Ages.

Perhaps it is a bit bright-eyed of me to think so, but I know the power of working together and uplifting each other as much as I know the destructive power of the darkness of the sentient soul. And even if our loftiest ambitions are not met, we can still be here for each other in the moment. And if we do, even should this dream end tomorrow, we could still feel confident that Deoch is proud of us, that we did all that He ever expected of us – to let our spark shine brightly, and help keep the flame of passion and creativity lit in our hearts.
