Hello everyone. My name is Inuyoko T’Alveni. I am a Priestess of this Shrine and a member of its clergy since deoch 53. Last double-moon, we talked about the way chaos, passion, and creativity permeate all aspects of our lives and the Octave. Today, I’d like to talk about inspiration. What it means, and how it differs from action. This will be a rather short one as I am under the weather and I also would like to leave ample time for folks to prepare to attend Phever’s upcoming Mass.

To me, inspiration is sort of synonymous with the concept of a *muse*. Thanks to Absobel for drawing that comparison. When I speak about something as being inspirational to me, I mean that it induces a sort of first step. It is an impetus, a thing that makes me go “I haven’t thought about this that way before”, or “That makes me want to try that”. It doesn’t necessarily mean that anything concrete has been started, or finished, but it does deserve credit. At the end of the process, one can look back and say “That inspired this.” It is of course an incredibly important thing, because we are particularly adept at noticing if something we are reading, hearing, or seeing is not inspired. When one bypasses their spark in the act of creation and socializing, it saps a crucial aspect of those actions away. But even when we are drawing up from within our spark, we can sometimes craft things without this essence. In such a case, it is at least born from someone who can be suggested to, criticized, and who can improve. I have certainly written things which have been weakly inspired, and I always try to take some lesson, even with failure. The point is that it is important that we are both developing our crafts and seeking out inspiration to imbue them with. Maybe this inspiration is from seeing someone do a kind deed for another, or maybe it’s from seeing a work of art that speaks to you. It can come from outside or within. Watching the sun set or thinking about a loved one. I’d like to wrap up by asking if anyone has anything that particularly inspires them they’d like to share?

Dranorous: I'll have a go Inuyoko: Yes, Dranorous? Dranorous: I think in many cases, not just the result of someone's Dranorous: work inspires, but the act of creation itself. Dranorous: I like to believe myself creative, but the effort that Dranorous: people who sit down and write, or craft, or even Dranorous: entertain engage in is inspiring. Because I think it can Dranorous: be overwhelming to try to take all of our thoughts and Dranorous: put them into something concrete. TheVoid" i'd like to say something if that's ok TheVoid> Of course. Dranorous: So that inspires me. The effort people put into their Dranorous: creations. zurian: I have something to add Inuyoko: I agree. I've spoken about the importance of craft, and Inuyoko: the behind the scenes work that goes into creating Inuyoko: something, and I find a lot of inspiration in that as well Inuyoko: zurian, feel free. zurian: I've been doing a lot of reading into the history of zurian: our world of temuair and that has inspired me zurian: It is quite awe inspiring how deep it goes zurian: Also I find there is some urge to try and preserve zurian: some of the knowledge that is eroding away zurian: ((like on old websites that are failing)) Inuyoko: *smiles* Yes! That is important to recognize, and it is Inuyoko: important that we have sparks who are willing to engage Inuyoko: with and maintain our history, our stories, our lore. Inuyoko: I am glad you find inspiration in that. Inuyoko: TheVoid, you wanted to share something as well? TheVoid: yes, and thank you for letting me speak Inuyoko: Speak freely, friend :) TheVoid: I've been finding inspiration not just in the crafting tha TheVoid: that, has been going on, but also by the community TheVoid: as a young aisling myself who only recently sparked TheVoid: I am gladdened to see how amazing it has been to see TheVoid: how incredibly friendly many of aislings are, and like TheVoid: what was mentioned about preserving the history TheVoid: i feel inspired by it, it is like a rash one gets in the TheVoid: swamp but in a good way though zurian: Amusing Inuyoko: *laughs* KenkakuSam: Amusing TheVoid: i have been toying with the idea of getting involved in TheVoid: ruc politics but i may have to wait to attend TheVoid: more classes, of which recently TheVoid: i have more time, and i intend to attend more masses TheVoid: as i believe all gods and faiths we can take some TheVoid: inspiration from even if the gods may not get along with zurian: There's an extensive guide on politicia dominica justto add TheVoid: some TheVoid: thank you zurian, i will definitely have to check it out Inuyoko: Yes, I appreciate that. What is important is that you are TheVoid: also i'm done and thank you for letting me speak Inuyoko: finding things that inspire you to do more in Temuair, and Inuyoko: as someone who herself finds inspiration from all faiths, Inuyoko: even in her dedication to Deoch, I appreciate that Inuyoko: aspect as well. Erana: I have a brief commment to share, if that is okay? Inuyoko: Oh course. Inuyoko: Of course, rather.. Erana: I have to admit, that lately, I have not felt very inspired Erana: Maybe lately, I have just felt tired. Inuyoko: *nods* Erana: But seeing others find joy in inspiration Erana: and how they step away from what they feel they HAVE to do Erana: so they can do what they want to do Erana: and being able to see how that brings joy Erana: it's reminded me to slow down, and focus on just that Erana: So, maybe Erana: I could say that I've found inspiration in seeing how Erana: others are inspired Inuyoko: That is heartening to hear. And your feelings are shared Inuyoko: by many, I think. KenkakuSam: *nod* blackiecrown: beautifully said *sheds tear* TheVoid: *nods* Inuyoko: I like to think back on Merisa's words in "Octave, Frozen, Inuyoko: Octave (Year of Deoch)" where she wrote: "We represent TheVoid: *offers blackie a tissue* Inuyoko: the best of Aislingkind. And I refuse to accept that our Inuyoko: generation will be known for one of ennui." Inuyoko: Many of us struggle to find that which is powerful enough Inuyoko: to inspire us to continue on. But, keeping that hope Inuyoko: alive and being able to see it when it comes our way is Inuyoko: important, I feel. Erana: *nods in agreement* Inuyoko: Does anyone else have anything they'd like to share? :) TheVoid: can i just add something to what erana was talking about ? Inuyoko: Of course. TheVoid: thank you TheVoid: i have been told in my short time that it is better to TheVoid: down and take your time, and just enjoy being TheVoid: instead of spreading yourself thin and burning yourself TheVoid: out. Just take your time is what i have learned Inuyoko: *nods* Erana: *smiles*

Thank you to everyone who shared.

Mass is cast.
