Hello, everyone. My name is Inuyoko T’Alveni. I am a Priestess of this Shrine, and a member of its clergy since deoch 53. Last double-moon, I talked about the relationships between the gods, and the antagonistic relationships represented in the Octave. Today, I’d like to talk about the latent spirit of Deoch in our world.

We have talked often in the past about what it means to be Deochan. What it means to live in the spirit of Deoch. It is a calling that signifies something different to each of us, and it is something which lives within us all regardless of how we express it. Much like a literal flame rises up towards the sky as if yearning to be part of something greater, the flames of passion churn inside as a literal piece of us that must eventually lurch outward. Everything we do in this world leaves its indelible mark upon it. The actions of every being who has ever lived has helped to shape our world in ways big and small, which connect in an unbroken web throughout history, leading us to where we are today.

Though this is often manifested in ways that we can clearly point to – art, craft, entrepreneurship, training – it doesn’t always have to be that way. Indeed, sometimes we may find ourselves without the energy and motivation to undertake such things. Deoch asks us to “Do,” but it is not with the expectation that we must always do the most. No, in my view, Deoch understands, perhaps more than most, that the simple act of living and enduring is sometimes the best way to cherish His gift. We do not as individuals need to be all things at all times. The rest of the world will pick up what we cannot until we can again.

All of this is to say nothing about how we impact those we know and love without actively doing anything at all. The mere thought of someone I care about… knowing they are safe, or reflecting on memories with them, is enough to have an effect on me. I’m sure it is for you all as well. Keep this in mind during your darkest days. Deoch does not judge you, or consider you not to be doing enough. Rather, He sees in you not only what you do, but also what you have the *potential* to do.
